HOW DO I START USING MY EQUA MAT?

It starts with you. We recommend slowly adapting to the acupressure spikes by placing your Equa Mat on your bed or couch and laying on the mat with a shirt on. The soft surfaces make the acupressure less intense. Lay on the mat slowly and gradually. You can stay on you Equa Mat for as long as you feel comfortable but we recommend at least 5 to 10 minutes on your first session.


Avoid any sudden movements while on the mat. The spikes can be sharp when weight is concentrated on a single area of the body and sudden movements may hurt!

SHOULD I WEAR A SHIRT WHEN I USE MY EQUA MAT? 

While you can always wear a shirt, we recommend you use the mat bare-skinned once you become accustomed to the sensation of the spikes. While it will increase the overall intensity, direct contact with the spikes is more effective at triggering your acupoints.


If you are wearing a shirt, wear comfortable clothing made of fabric that will not easily snag or come apart when in contact with the spikes.

 WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN USING MY EQUA MAT? 

Each person may feel different and, you may feel various sensations during and after using your Equa Mat. The most common is a slight prickling at the beginning of your session followed by a warm and sometimes pulsing sensation in the targeted area. As the tension is released from your muscles, you'll begin to feel more comfortable and relaxed.After using your mat, the targeted area will be red, warm and shallowly-indented where the acupressure spikes have come into contact with your skin. You may even feel light tingling. This is common and your skin will return to normal within a couple of hours. 

 HOW LONG SHOULD I LIE ON MY EQUA MAT? 

You can lie on your Equa Mat for as little as 5 minutes or up to 1 hour. Many people find 30 to 40 minutes is the ideal length for pain relief. If you are new to acupressure mats, we recommend lengthening your sessions by 5-minute increments until the desired time is reached. Generally speaking, the more time spent on your Equa Mat helps your body acclimatize and promotes endorphin release. 

WHERE CAN I USE MY EQUA MAT? 

You can use your Equa Mat anywhere, really. If you're a beginner, you can start on soft surfaces like your bed or couch. Once you've become accustomed to using your mat, we recommend using it on the floor. The harder the surface, the more intense your acupressure session will be.


You can also use your Equa Mat while working at your desk, watching TV or reading. Other Equa Mat users report having also traveled with it and used it at the beach.

CAN I USE MY EQUA MAT ON OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY? 

Of course! Your Equa Mat can be used where you are experiencing muscle soreness or need some relief. Our users have used it on specific target areas like their calves, lower back, wrists, and feet. You can sit, stand or lay on your mat. 

HOW DO I CLEAN MY EQUA MAT? 

Simply remove the foam pad and hand wash the cotton cover in lukewarm water and hang to dry. Avoid using a washing machine or dryer as it will damage the massage plate and spikes.
